 Welcome to the GMTG website. We are a student run organisation resident at The University of Birmingham, dedicated to the appreciation and production of musicals and the furthering of musical theatre skills within the university. In addition to our two shows each year, we run a schedule of master classes, theatre trips, and more for our members - and we also provide our services and equipment for hire within and outside the university. We are always on the lookout for more members, whether your interest lies in performing, production, or simply an interest in musical theatre. This website should provide you with all the information you need to get involved with the society, find out more about our services, shows, or book your tickets online. A Slice of Saturday Night
6-10 May 2008
The year is 1964, and on the outskirts of London, it’s Saturday night at the “Club A Go-Go”, and the blokes and birds are on the pull. The girls, chalk-faced and pale-lipped are desperate to look like Twiggy, Sandy Shaw or Dusty Springfield, the lads, would-be Beatles. However, beneath the girls’ skimpy Mary Quant copied dresses beat virginal Barbara Cartland hearts … while inside the lads’ hipster trousers lurk the impulses which have driven adolescents to distraction since the dawn of time. Watched over by ageing rocker Eric ‘Rubber-legs’ De Vene, the club’s seen-it-all, done-it-all owner, we follow them as they drink, dance, and have their hearts broken and mended. Follow the story of timid Seymour and his man-eating plant Audrey II as they help each other acheive their dreams. But things soon turn nasty... Including such show stoppers as Dentist, Mean Green Mother from Outer Space and Skid Row, and featuring a giant singing plant - this is an unmissable production!
