Theatre is all about actors, of course. If you have a desire to be up on stage, then GMTG can help you. You will need to audition for a role when a production comes up. These are twice a year, at the end of the first term and the end of the second term (or occassionally the beginning of the third term). Auditions tend to be held around late September and January time. They are well publicised, so please don't worry about missing them. Productions have roles for singers, dancers, and actors, as well as combinations of all three, so everyone is catered for. This website will carry full details of audition times, booking system and details on what to expect at auditions. Keep an eye out for posters and come along!

Our shows cannot go ahead without talented individuals to take on demanding key roles - Director, Producer, Choreographer, and Musical Director. If you are interested in any of these parts, you will need to discuss this with a member of the committee, who can also put you in touch with someone who has experience in your field. It is extremely advisable to take part in GMTG productions in other ways before attempting to run a production, in order to get the feel of the society, the venue, and most importantly, the members. Running for election to production team is a long and drawn out process. Do not attempt it without serious consideration and discussion with others in the society. The committee will be more than happy to advise on this. You will need to gather a team together, a show, and write a hand out and prepare a presentation for election day. Once you have been elected, the various roles are extremely intense, and should not be approached without full committment to the show. Please do discuss this with experienced members of GMTG if you are considering running. Despite all of the above, being part of a production team is a supremely rewarding experience and we would love to hear from you if you have some great ideas for a show. Good luck!
Like all theatre groups, we are often short of backstage crew! If you are interested in helping out backstage in any way, including stage crew, wardrobe, props, make-up or anything else you can think of, please make yourself known to the Producer, who will be very pleased to hear from you. Go along to one of the auditions, or alternatively, contact the producer via text message or call them - their number will be displayed on the audition posters. This website also provides a convenient way to contact them. Experience is an advantage, but we stress that enthusiasm and willingness to put in the effort are far more important to us.

Those skilled in the use of sound and lighting equipment are in great demand. If you are interested in teching for a production, please contact the Producer as soon as possible. GMTG productions in the Guild are provided with lighting and sound expertise through Guild Technical Services. If you are interested in assisting with any of these roles, then you will also need to meet with the Technical Co-ordinator, Dan Avery, to discuss admission to Tech Services. You can usually find him in Technical Services behind Deb Hall, or by asking at the front desk.
